Additional Names:
Viral macrophage inflammatory protein 2, Viral macrophage inflammatory protein II, vMIP-II
Background:
vMIP-2 is a chemokine analog encoded by human herpes virus, and has been shown to have antagonist activity towards several chemokine receptors. Recombinant vMIP-2 is a 7.9 kDa protein consisting of 70 amino acids including the four highly conserved cysteine residues present in CC chemokines.
Biological Activity:
Determined by the inhibitory effect on monocyte migration response to human MIP - 1 alpha using a concentration range of 1.0 μg - 10.0 μg/mL of viral MIP - 2 will inhibit 25 ng/mL of human MIP - 1 alpha.
