Bioactivity:
Ractopamine is structurally similar to the natural catecholamines epinephrine and norepinephrine. Ractopamine is linked to the metabolism of protein. Ractopamine is a potent agonist of β-adrenergic receptor (βAR) with Kd value of ~25 nM for pig β 1 AR and β 2 AR. Ractopamine binds with high affinity to βAR in pig adipose and muscle tissue that is used for increase lean tissue growth and improve production efficiency in pigs [1] [2] [3].
