Background:
KLF4 is a zinc-finger transcription factor expressed in the epithelium of the skin, lungs, intestine and several other organs. KLF4-KO mouse dies after birth for the abnormal formation of the skin. It is known that Klf4 cooperates with Oct3/4 and Sox2, and it is one of the factors that have been used to form iPS cells (induced pluripotent stem cells) from fibroblasts.
