E. coli-Derived Recombinant Human Serpin F1 (aa 44 -418)
Long Description:
Pigment epithelium derived factor (PEDF) is non-inhibitory serpin with neurotrophic and anti-angiogenic functions.1 It protects immature but not mature granule cells against both natural and induced apoptosis.2 PEDF plays an important role in regulation of glial function and proliferation in the central nervous system.3 PEDF also plays important roles in the survival and maintenance of spinal motor neurons in their neuroprotection against acquired insults in postnatal life.4 It is suggested that PEDF may be of therapeutic use, especially in retinopathies where pathological neovascularization compromises vision and leads to blindness.5
